RED CARPET MOMENT: Emmy Awards 2012

Hier soir, la cérémonie des Emmy awards a récompensé les meilleurs shows TV de l'année 2012 à Los Angeles. Modern Family et Homeland sont les deux séries gagnantes. Julie Bowen a gagné le prix de la meilleur actrice de comédie et Claire Danes a eu le prix de la meilleure actrice pour une série dramatique. Les looks de la soirée étaient très colorés pour notre plus grand plaisir.

Payless invite régulièrement des créateurs à dessiner des mini-collections pour la marque, et les créations partent toujours comme des petits pains. Voici la nouvelle collection créée par Siriano en vente au  printemps prochain.

Malheureusement nous n'avons pas encore cette marque de chaussures en France, mais New York n'est pas si loin que ça...

FASHION WEEK: Christian Siriano Printemps 2011

J'aime beaucoup le travail de ce jeune créateur, je l'avais interviewé à New York au sujet de sa nouvelle émission de TV 'Having a moment'. C'est le plus jeune gagnant du show TV 'Project Runway' (un concours du meilleur créateur aux USA, le gagnant voit sa ligne de vêtements financée) et je le trouve fascinant par sa singularité. Voici dessous la cinquième collection du petit génie.

Cette collection lui a été inspirée par un mélange de cultures: "un peu de l'Afrique, un peu de l'Asie, un peu de la Grèce". Et que dire des deux dernières robes volumineuses? STUNNING!

Who inspired you to work in fashion?
I don’t think it was ever anyone specific, I just loved fashion, clothing, hair, make-up, style, etc… and I knew it was a business and industry that I wanted to learn as much as I could.

Best moment of your career so far?
Wow, I have had a lot of dream moments that have come true. Showing a collection each season is a pretty great moment. Going to Victoria Beckham’s house for a private fitting was a nice moment and I think waking up one morning to Rihanna in my dress was also a great moment in my career.

Can you tell us what projects you are working on next?
I am really working hard to grow my business and brand. I have already started my next collection, collecting fabrics, new shoe ideas for my collection for Payless and I’m even working on a fun new bridal collection.

Tell us about your show “Having a Moment”?
The show is really simple, it’s not planned at all it was just two cameras following me and my team around during fashion week and it’s just to show what it takes to create a collection and build a business. I think people will learn a lot from this episode and they also will see that there is life after project runway.

Who would you love to do a collaboration with?
I would love to do collaborations with a massive clothing retailer and the list is long, but that will have to wait until I grow my other clothing business.

What is your typical day like?
It isn’t always that exciting, I come into my studio and face all the problems of selling a collection to stores all over the world, which always keeps me on my toes, and I will work with my factories for a few hours a day and the team in house. Some days we will be making wedding gowns the others could be for a celeb who knows every day is different that’s what is so great about this business you never know what will happen.

What did you learn during your internships that you still use?
I learned everything I could. I think the most is how to treat your staff and how to never stress over the small things. It’s better to spend the time resolving the problems rather then talking about them all day.

What sets you apart from the other Project Runway winners?
I think drive, ambition and aesthetic!

What advice would you give to young designers?
I think the best advice to give is to love what you do and to find that one item that you really perfect. Meaning start small and then build your brand from that one item or product.
